LIFE GREENH2ORN is here to bring change to mobility in Western Macedonia

The aim of this project is the production of green hydrogen from renewable energy sources and its integration into urban transport within the region of Kozani. In this framework, the official Kick-Off Meeting of the project took place in Kozani on September 23 & 24, officially setting the project in motion and marking an important step toward hydrogen-powered, emission-free mobility solutions.

The project is coordinated by the Municipality of Kozani, with the participation of local partners (CluBE-Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia), University of Western Macedonia, DIADYMA SA, B&T Composites), national partners (DEPA Commercial S.A.), and international partners (EUROPEAN DYNAMICS, ACEA Infrastructure).

The first commercial green hydrogen refueling station is expected to be installed and operational by 2028. The green hydrogen will be produced through electrolysis using renewable energy sources and is expected to power fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs), including garbage trucks, scooters, and cars.

LIFE GREENH2ORN is proudly co-funded by CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency under the LIFE Programme, aiming to bring green hydrogen technologies to urban mobility and contribute to a sustainable future.

For Western Macedonia, LIFE GREENH2ORN is a significant initiative that brings green hydrogen technologies closer to the general public, as the production and utilization of green hydrogen begin to emerge!
